On October 15, Mr. Liu Congqiang, academician of the CAS Member, academician of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, and the dean of the School of Earth System Science of Tianjin University, visited Beibu Gulf University.

Mr. Liu Congqiang first visited the Marine Culture Museum and Marine Specimen Museum of the University. During the visit, Mr. Han Junfeng, secretary of CPC Beibu Gulf University Committee, first introduced the general information of the univerisity to Mr. Liu. He then expressed the expectation of more suggestions on the scientific research work of the university from Mr. Liu.

In the afternoon, a special consultation meeting was held, presided over by Huang Hu, the vice president of the university, and attended by Mr. Liu Congqiang, the heads of the university's Science and Technology Department, Ocean College, College of Resources and Environment, provincial key laboratories and other relevant units.

Mr. Liu Congqiang expressed fully appreciation of the university’s achievements on teaching and scientific research. Meanwhile, he answered one by one the questions asked by the participating faculty about the construction of the discipline platform, the cultivation of scientific research projects, the application of the National Natural Science Foundation projects, and put forward many guiding opinions and suggestions on the scientific research work of the University.
